The Sheffield Steelkings are the largest para ice hockey club in the country.
First established in 2014, the Steelkings play and train out of IceSheffield, and compete in the British Para Ice Hockey League.
From humble beginnings the Kings slowly began to build and in just few short years, have become one of the league’s powerhouse teams.

The Sheffield Steelkings officially joined the British Para Ice Hockey League in 2015 and it only took two years before making the club’s first playoff weekend.
In 2018 the Steelkings won their first big accolade by being named National Lottery Award winners!

This was in recognition for the club’s ‘Learn2Sledge’ programme.
This unique plan saw the Kings open para ice hockey to hundreds of new people to try the sport.
Attendees came from all over Yorkshire and the surrounding areas.
Just one year later the Steelkings completed the British Para Ice Hockey double, by winning both British League and Playoff championships for the first time in club history.
This success was followed by a further increase of players and saw the launch of the development ‘Bee-Team’ at the end of 2019. Since then, the Steelkings have had two teams competing in the British Para Ice Hockey League.

2022 saw the Kings take their winning ways into Europe as they competed in and won, the inaugural Northwest Europe Para Ice Hockey League. Travelling to Antwerp, Belgium, the Steelkings swept aside the hosts as well as teams from France and the Netherlands to lift their first NEPIHL silverware.

Like all para ice hockey teams within the British Para Ice Hockey League, the Sheffield Steelkings are a fully inclusive club and we comprise of people from all backgrounds and cultures, both able-bodied and disabled alike.
The Steelkings are always looking for ways to grow the sport and find future stars of the game. The hope is, players will not only represent the Steelkings, but also Great Britain in the national squads at World Championships and future Paralympic Games too.
Players starting out in the sport will start in our development ‘Bee-Team’; the Steel’Stings’ while improving their speed, skill and stamina and if a players ability allows, they will progress to the club’s senior team, the Steelkings.
In time, the aim is for the Sheffield Steelkings to also establish a junior team to encourage younger players to take up the sport, and hopefully also represent Great Britain in one of its national programmes too.
